Trump sues former attorney Cohen for $500 million
In a 32-page filing filed with the Florida District Court, it was argued that Cohen spilled the secrets of his former client Trump, spread lies about him and violated professional rules.
In the file, which is claimed to have spread lies about Cohen’s books and podcast series, as well as his visibility in mainstream media, Trump is claimed to have suffered a loss of reputation because of this.
HE WANTS 500 MILLION DOLLARS
The file found that Cohen acted in bad faith to enrich himself, and it was noted that compensation would be requested for the damages he caused, the actual amount of which will be determined at the hearing and is expected to exceed 500 million. Dollars
The filing also alleged that Cohen lied about the cost of operating expenses and that the Trump company had to pay him $75,000 more than he deserved.
EXPECTED TO WITNESS
Cohen was arrested in December 2018 on charges of “lying” and “tax evasion” in the investigation into Trump’s election campaign.
Cohen, 56, was released from prison on April 21 to serve the remainder of his sentence at his Manhattan home, due to the Covid-19 outbreak seen at the prison where he was being held, and completed his sentence in November 2022.
While Trump denied allegations that he made a secret payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels, his former attorney, Cohen, confirmed that he paid Daniels $130,000 from his own account on Trump’s behalf.
Manhattan District Court Attorney Alvin Bragg announced on April 5 that they had identified a total of 34 documents containing critical misstatements about payments made by Trump to Cohen, his attorney during the 2016 election.
By denying the charges against him and saying he is innocent, Trump argues that the charges against him are politically motivated and election interference.
In the criminal case against Trump, Cohen is expected to testify about hush money. (AA)
