Russia: Grains Agreement Expanded Unlikely

Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov stated that the part of the Grain Corridor Agreement regarding Russia was not implemented, saying: “No agreement can stand on one leg, it must stand on two legs. In that sense, in the current situation (extension of the agreement) the probability is low, ”he said.

Peskov made remarks to journalists in the capital Moscow on current affairs. Responding to the question about the possibility of extending the Grain Corridor Agreement signed in Istanbul on July 22 between Turkey, Ukraine, Russia and the United Nations Organization (UN), Peskov stated that the part of the agreement on the shipment of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers was not implemented.

“The agreement was extended for 60 days, not the full term, because half of this agreement was not implemented and is not implemented today. We know that UN representatives have taken initiatives in this regard, but the second part of the agreement has not yet been implemented. No deal can stand on one leg, it must stand on two legs. In that sense, in the current situation (extension of the agreement) the probability is low, ”he said.

Noting that the Russian delegation, led by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, has yet to receive US visas to attend the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) meeting, Peskov said: “We see this negatively. “The United States, where the UN headquarters is located, must fulfill all its obligations,” he said.

Assessing the claim that the United States has actions related to biolabs in other countries, Peskov said, “We must do everything we can to bring this illegal activity by the United States to public attention.” (AA)
