There are 112,000 illegals living in Belgium.

According to local media, Free University of Brussels (VUB) researchers Pieter-Paul Verhaeghe and Sylvie Gadeyne calculated the number of “undocumented people” in the country using an alternative method.

Based on the fact that approximately 500 people who are not included in the population register die in the country each year, the researchers subtract the number of tourists and asylum seekers with residence permits and conclude that the number of people “without papers ” in Belgium, which has a population of about 11.5 million, it is 112,000.

This figure corresponds to the population of Bruges, one of the most popular tourist cities in the country. 52,000 of them live in the capital, Brussels.

BELGIUM DOES NOT TAKE A STEP BACK

The so-called “undocumented” people in Belgium are those who came to the country years ago from Algeria, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Pakistan and many African countries by various means but were not legalized.
Most of these people living in the country without residency or work documents are denied residency.
The “Sin Papeles” make their name known with their occasional hunger strikes. However, Belgium does not compromise its strict stance nor does it bring a permanent solution to the situation. (AA)
