Biden says Russia’s arrest of a Wall Street Journal reporter is illegal
US President Biden answered questions from reporters before boarding the plane ahead of his visit to Northern Ireland and Ireland.
Noting that the arrest of US citizen journalist Evan Gershkovic on spying charges in Russia was “completely illegal,” Biden said the journalist’s open statement that he was “wrongfully arrested” changed the dynamic.
Joe Biden said he would call Gershkovic’s family on the plane.
Biden, who also answered questions about the federal judge’s decision to prohibit the prescription and distribution of a drug used for abortion in the state of Texas, assessed that the judge’s decision was completely outside acceptable limits.
Biden stated that his priority within the scope of his visit to Northern Ireland and Ireland is to keep the peace by ensuring that the Good Friday and Windsor agreements remain in place. (AA)
