A day after Beijing announced the end of military training near Taiwan, China’s navy said it would continue “real combat training” around Taiwan. Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has criticized China for its “irresponsible” behavior.
China’s military training follows Tsai’s visit to the United States. Last weekend, the Taiwanese president met with Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the House of Representatives. China has warned the US not to allow the visit. China claims that Taiwan is Chinese territory, which is logically denied by the Taiwanese government.
Precision attacks
Chinese state television also says several warships are continuing their combat training in the waters around Taiwan, testing leadership and organizational skills at all levels. The “combat effectiveness of weapons and equipment” is also tested.
At least nine Chinese vessels were spotted during training, according to Taiwanese authorities. Additionally, 26 fighter aircraft are involved in the training. During the training, blockades and precision strikes were tested by China, among other things.
