Chad declares German envoy ‘persona non grata’
Chad demanded that the German ambassador to Encemine, Jan-Christian Gordon Kricke, leave the country within 48 hours.
Chad’s Ministry of Communications cited “rude attitude and disrespect for diplomatic practices” as the reason for the decision regarding Ambassador Kricke. In the statement made on the Twitter account of the Ministry of Communications, it was indicated that this decision should not be interpreted as a problem between Chad and Germany, and Kricke was asked to leave Chad within 48 hours.
German Ambassador Jan-Christian Gordon Kricke, who has been in service since 2021, previously served as a diplomat in Niger, Angola and the Philippines, and served as Germany’s special representative in the Sahel.
General Muhammed Idris Debi Itno, who assumed power on April 20, 2021 after the death of his father, reneged on his promise to hand over administration to civilians after the 18-month transition period and was named president in October. 10 for a new transition period of 2 years.
