Biden’s decision to increase tension between the United States and Russia

Biden decides to extend Russia’s “national emergency”

According to the White House statement, Biden informed Congress that he will extend the presidential decree on Russia’s “national emergency” announced on April 15, 2021, as the United States continues to pose a threat to its national security, foreign policy, and economy. . . .

President Biden said Russia’s efforts to undermine free and fair elections and democratic institutions, particularly in the United States and its allies, malicious cyber activity, promote international corruption, target dissidents and journalists, undermine security in countries and regions important to US national security continued to pose an “extraordinary and extraordinary” threat to the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the United States for reasons including “violating the principles of international law, including failure to respect the territorial integrity of states”.

For this reason, Biden pointed out that the state of emergency, which will expire on April 15, 2023, must remain in force after this date.

EXTENDED SOMALIAN NATIONAL EMERGENCY

Biden also decided to extend the national emergency originating in Somalia.

Noting that the ongoing instability and threat of terrorism in Somalia continue to pose a threat to US national security and foreign policy, Biden said the Somali national emergency declared on April 12, 2010 must also be extended. (AA)
