Raid on the ‘wrong room’ by the FBI and the US military
The FBI and US Army Special Operations Command, conducting a training exercise in downtown Boston, raided the wrong hotel room and arrested the wrong person.
According to the CNN report, in the incident that occurred in Boston, members of the FBI and special operations raided the wrong hotel room during the exercise. According to the Boston Police Department, the incident occurred at the Revere Hotel Boston Common.
“Members sent to the wrong room based on false information arrested another person, not the intended person,” the FBI said, adding that no one was injured during the incident.
“First, we would like to express our sincerest apologies to the individual affected by the training exercise,” said US Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) Lt. Col. Mike Burns. Burns stated that the exercise was aimed at “enhancing soldiers’ ability to perform tasks in realistic and unusual environments” and stated that the incident was under investigation.
Local media reports indicated that the person who was mistakenly detained was an employee of Delta Air Lines. (AA)
