According to reports in the French press, sewage workers at the Municipality of Paris, who are fighting against rats, have gone on strike demanding that their profession be positioned in a better status.

To draw attention to the harsh working conditions and insufficient wages, the employees dumped the dead mice they brought in in front of the city hall.

“We want more personnel and financial resources. We are in an industry where we lost 60 of our friends in 10 years”, the employees said, and wanted to make their voices heard before the municipal authorities. When the crowd persisted in protesting, she was greeted by municipal official Anne Souyris.

Speaking to French channel BFMTV, Souyris said garbage collectors and sewage workers are aware that they need regulation to better protect them.

Souyris stated that he had no prior knowledge of the strike, otherwise he would work to resolve the issue before it reaches this point.

Thousands of tons of rubbish piled up in Paris when sanitation workers went on strike in mid-March in response to the anti-retirement reform. In the capital, rats began to run in many districts due to the fact that garbage was not collected for a long time on the streets and streets.
