Volcano risk in Colombia… 2500 families will be evacuated
Sharing on the subject on his Twitter account, Petro affirmed that the orange alarm continues and that he gave the necessary instructions for the rapid evacuation of 2,500 families.
Petro said: “I have ordered from the Departmental Risk Council that the evacuation of 2,500 families be accelerated due to the emergency that can occur at the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano. “There is a possibility that the volcano will erupt in a few days or weeks,” he said.
In the press office statement of the Presidency, it was reported that the government personally followed the events in the region and discussed the situation with the authorities.
In its April 1 statement, the Colombian Geological Service (SGC) recalled that if the volcanic activity in question continues, flight activities in the country will be interrupted, SGC stated that many regions, including the capital Bogotá, will be affected.
In the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano, 25,000 people lost their lives in the mudslide that occurred as a result of the eruption of November 13, 1985.
The volcano is located 129 kilometers from the capital, Bogotá. (AA)
