Former Brazilian President Bolsonaro Testifies About Undeclared Jewelry
Fabio Wajngarten, one of Bolsonaro’s former ministers and close friend, posted on his social media account: “Bolsonaro calmly responded to questions about all the charges brought against him by the Federal Police. It was a great opportunity to shed light on the accusations.” He used the phrase.
In a statement from Bolsonaro’s lawyers, it was reported that two sets of jewelry were deposited in a public bank, arguing that their clients did not commit any illegal act.
It was shared that former President Bolsonaro had to deliver gifts ranging from $100,000 to $75,000 to the State.
It was recorded that Bolsonaro’s interrogation at the Federal Police headquarters in the capital Brasilia lasted about 3 hours.
I DO NOT ACCEPT THE CHARGES
On March 23, the Brazilian government had given Bolsonaro five business days to return $3.2 million worth of undeclared jewelry discovered upon his return from his visit to Saudi Arabia in 2021.
Bolsonaro argued that there was no irregularity
The jewels, valued at 3.2 million dollars, were found in the backpack of one of Bolsonaro’s crew members at the Sao Paulo Guarulhos airport when he was returning from Saudi Arabia.
Bolsonaro, who is being investigated for “inciting” the raid of Congress in Brazil, returned to his country on March 30 from the US, where he went on December 30, 2022. (AA)
