The former president was accused of paying porn star Stormy Daniels secret money in 2016. The exact allegations have not yet been made public. Paying the hush money to Daniels is not a crime in itself, but the way it was administratively processed would be, according to US media reports.
Neighborhood around the court hermetically sealed
New York City expects outcry around the allegation and has therefore taken action. This weekend, police placed wire fences around Trump Tower and streets around the Manhattan courthouse were sealed off. Some classrooms will also be closed on Tuesday. The NYPD said Sunday there was no concrete threat in the city.
After the police station procedure, Trump immediately returns to Mar-a-Lago for a speech.
