World premiere: scooters banned in Paris
Paris went to a referendum to ban scooters yesterday, while 90 percent of the people of Paris voted to ban scooters, this was the first time in the history of the world.
It was noted that with the increase in the number of scooters endorsed by the Paris municipality as a faster and more environmentally friendly method of public transport in 2018, the number of accidents and fatalities increased. According to official records, 3 people died in the accident caused by electric scooters in 2022, while 459 people were injured.
According to the election results published in 20 districts of Paris, it is requested to ban the use of electric and shared scooters, while the results of the referendum are not officially binding. However, officials from the Paris municipality announced that they would implement the result of the vote.
It is estimated that there are about 15,000 electric scooters on the streets of Paris.
