Milatovic becomes the eighth president of Montenegro
According to exit polls shared by the independent Center for Monitoring and Research (CeMI), which monitors elections in the country, 98 percent of the votes were counted in the second round of the elections, the first of which was It was held on March 19. Milatovic was elected the country’s eighth president with 60 percent of the vote.
Milatovic’s rival, Milo Djukanovic, current chairman of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro (DPS), received 40 of the votes.
CeMI announced that electoral participation was 70.5 percent.
With the support of Serbs in the country, Milatovic, 37, completed his master’s degree at Oxford University after graduating from the Department of Economics at the University of Montenegro.

President Djukanovic, in a statement to members of the press, said: “The presidential election is over, the result is clear. I congratulate Jakov Milatovic for the votes he received. Djukanovic thanked the voters who voted for him and expressed his satisfaction that the election went smoothly and in a democratic atmosphere.
Djukanovic received 35.3 percent of the vote in the first round of the presidential election held on March 19, while Milatovic received 28.9 percent of the vote, and the election was left for the second round since neither of the candidates obtained more than 50 percent of the vote. votes.
The State Electoral Institute of Montenegro (DİK) announced that the turnout rate in the first round was 63.1 percent.

Momir Bulatovic won the first presidential election in Montenegro in 1990. Bulatovic was also the winner of the second election in 1992. Milo Djukanovic won the 1997 presidential election.

The current president Djukanovic won the 2018 elections.
