The Ukrainian commander spoke: we are looking forward to tanks
In the conflicts that have been taking place for more than a year due to the Russia-Ukraine War, tanks have a great impact on the front, where heavy weapons such as artillery systems, combat aircraft and helicopters are used mainly.
Despite the passing of winter, heavy rain and snow continue in Ukraine, as the terrain in conflict zones is muddy, the role of tracked vehicles, like tanks, is increasing.
The Ukrainian army, which is making extensive preparations to counterattack in areas controlled by the Russian army, needs a large number of tanks to support the ground operation.
The tank aid provided by Western countries within the framework of the “tank coalition” formed at the end of last year has become a hope for Ukrainian tank troops at the front.
According to senior Ukrainian officials, the first batches of tanks, which the Western allies announced they would supply, have started to be brought into the country.
THE CONFLICT CONTINUES IN THE REGION
The commander of the brigade’s tank division stationed in the Donetsk region, where the most intense fighting continues across Ukraine, the 29-year-old, codename “Lishiy”, made assessments.
Lişiy gave information about the activities of the tank division, which was deployed only 4 kilometers from the positions of the Russian forces, near the city of Ugledar, one of the hot spots of the front, and that there were constant clashes on the region. .
Noting that he has been on the front lines since the beginning of the war, Lişiy said, “I signed my first military contract in 2014. As a tanker, I have been working for 4 years. On February 24, 2022, at 04:00 in the morning, I went out on a mission to meet the enemy.”
Lişiy, who carried out the final checks on the tanks that will be on duty at the front, stated that they were firing heavily at the enemy.
Noting that they sometimes spend the whole day at the front, Lişiy said: “Our tanks are on duty every day. If there is a need or pressure from the enemy, then absolutely all tanks in this direction will go to the front, ”he said.
Lishiy said: “The tank is the main military equipment. It is an armored vehicle capable of destroying various targets. The important thing is that it is in the hands of those who know the business”. saying.
“WEST CANNOT WIN WITHOUT TANK SUPPORT”
Noting that the rain and snowfall continue after the long winter season, Lişiy stressed the importance of using tracked vehicles, such as tanks, in muddy terrain.
Lishiy stated that thanks to the “tank coalition” formed by the US and some Western countries like Germany, modern tanks will be brought to his country.
Noting that the tanks in the hands of the Ukrainian army were mostly vehicles that began to be manufactured during the Soviet Union, Lişiy said that they needed a lot of modern tanks for an effective counterattack against the Russian army.
“It is very difficult to fight without modern technology.” Lişiy said: “The tank is a vehicle that we really need. Without this support, the war will not end, it may even last 10 years. The sooner the equipment is delivered to us, the sooner we will destroy the enemy on our lands, ”he said.
Stating that the tanks should arrive in a short time for the counterattack, Lishiy said: “If the western partners do not extend the time and the sooner the equipment (tanks) is delivered, maybe we will finish (counterattack) before the end of summer.” .
Expressing his dreams of ending the war and returning to normal life, Lishiy said, “If the tanks come quickly and in sufficient numbers, I can go home and live like a normal person. “All soldiers dream of it,” he said. (AA)
