Finland goes to the polls: final results will be announced on Wednesday

Voting has started in Finland as part of the general election.

The Finnish Election Commission announced that the polls open at 09:00 local time will close at 20:00.

In the election, the members of the 200-seat parliament will be determined.

Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin took a selfie with voters.

The Finnish people attach great importance to these elections for the long-awaited recovery of the country’s economy, as well as for the security that has become evident due to the Russia-Ukraine War.

The number of voters in Finland, where the population is approximately 5.6 million, is claimed to be 4.546 million.

The final results of the elections are expected to be announced on April 5, according to the Ministry of Justice.

Experts draw attention to the difficulty of predicting which of the three parties with very close votes will come out on top in the 2019 elections.

Recent polls show the National Coalition Party will receive 20.8 percent of the vote, the Social Democratic Party 19.9 percent and the nationalist True Finns 19 percent.

Forty percent of registered voters participated in early voting, which was completed from March 22 to 28 in various regions of the country. (AA)
