According to footage on social media, an Iranian man begins arguing with women said to be his mother and daughter while shopping at the market, arguing that they “do not wear a headscarf”.
In the footage, the man who spilled the yogurt container he had taken on the heads of two women after the argument escalated is seen to have been beaten and thrown out by the shopkeeper.
EXPLANATION OF THE AUTHORITIES
After the images that generated a reaction in the country, a statement came from the authorities on the subject.
According to the Mizan news agency, affiliated with the Iranian judiciary, the prosecutor’s office in the city of Torkebe in Rezevi Khorasan province, where the incident occurred, said in a statement that “two women who wore their headscarves in public and a man who committed acts of insulting and disturbing public order by interfering with these two women in an inappropriate manner.” It was claimed that an arrest warrant was issued for the man.
In the statement, it was said that the owner of the store where the incident occurred received an official warning for allowing women to enter the store without wearing a proper headscarf. (AA)
