Provincial Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a statement that 33 of the dead have been identified, one person is missing and 16 injured are being treated. Chouhan said that he had given instructions for the case to be investigated.
It was announced that the municipal authorities demanded the removal of the well cover on the grounds that it was unsafe and was built without a permit in January, but the temple authorities did not comply with this request. (AA)
