Trump indicted in Stormy Daniels case

Donald Trump was indicted by a grand jury in Manhattan on Thursday after an investigation into hush money paid to porn star Stormy Daniels. No former or incumbent US president has ever been prosecuted.

Trump will appear on Tuesday in a Manhattan courthouse, one of his lawyers said.

Republican and Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy has lashed out at Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat who is leading the criminal investigation into Trump. Elise Stefanik, a Republican and a member of the House of Representatives, denounced the allegations as “unprecedented election interference” and a “political witch hunt”.
