Prince Harry says wiretaps were kept from him

The hearing of the wiretapping and breach of privacy case brought against ANL by famous names and politicians including Prince Harry, Elizabeth Hurley and Elton John continued today at the Supreme Court.

Prince Harry, who delivered his written statement to the court on the 3rd day of the hearing, responded to ANL’s request for a statute of limitations, as no request was filed within the legal deadline on the alleged facts.

Stating that the royal family delayed the allegations because they kept the matter from him, and that is why he opened the case late, Prince Harry said: “The institution (the royal family and the Palace), we don’t need to know anything about the wiretapping and that the royal family didn’t sit on the witness stand because it made the case even worse. He made it clear that it would complicate it,” he used the phrases.

Stating that he has never had a good relationship with the press, Prince Harry said: “Our policy towards the press as a member of the institution was to complain and make statements. There was no alternative. I had to accept that.” he performed the assessment of it.

Prince Harry noted that even though he watched the news about wiretapping and “hacking”, he couldn’t realize how people around him were being attacked, but decided he needed to take a step after the racist and offensive broadcasts against his wife. , Meghan Markle. .

David Sherborne, who is also a lawyer for Prince Harry along with famous names, said much of the information in the ANL news was obtained illegally.

“HARRY DID NOT ACT”

The ANL lawyer, Adrián Beltrami, affirmed that the events, some of which took place some 30 years ago, were expired because they were not judged within the legal term of 6 years.

Beltrami recalled the lawsuit that Prince Harry filed with the News of the World in 2012, stressing that following this lawsuit it was revealed that the Prince’s phone was hacked, but Harry took no action.

THEY FILED A CASE

Artists and politicians, including Prince Harry, Elizabeth Hurley, Sadie Frost, Elton John, David Furnish and Baroness Doreen Lawrence of Clarendon, filed a lawsuit against ANL in October 2022.

The plaintiffs claimed they suffered “serious breaches of privacy” as a result of “heinous criminal acts” allegedly committed by ANL, the publisher of The Mail On Sunday and MailOnline, and that their private information was misused.

Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, previously sued British newspaper The Mail On Sunday for defamation and won in July 2022.

On October 4, 2019, Prince Harry sued The Sun, Daily Mirror and News of the World, which are no longer operational, for “hacking” his phone messages. (AA)
