‘We will respond to attacks when and when we want’

US: We will respond to base attacks when and when we want.

Speaking at the daily online press briefing, Kirby said Iran-backed groups have responded to such incidents involving attacks on bases where US soldiers are stationed in Iraq and Syria.

Kirby stressed that if there is an attack on the bases, they will respond “whenever and by whatever means they want.”

Kirby, who did not confirm the news in the media that US President Joe Biden called off a second attack related to the incident in question, stressed that Biden has the right to decide on this issue as Commander-in-Chief.

Kirby, on a question about the purpose of the US decision not to share nuclear data with Russia, stated that they made that decision because of Russia’s refusal to fully comply with its obligations under the New START Agreement.

Emphasizing that they would be pleased with Russia’s return to the New START Deal, Kirby defended the view that this deal is good for both countries and the world.

“NORTH KOREA DOES NOT COME TO THE TABLE”

Kirby stated that they wanted to come to the table with no preconditions for the denuclearization of Pyongyang and the Korean Peninsula regarding North Korea’s steps to develop its ballistic missile program, but were unwilling to do so.

For this reason, Coordinator Kirby affirmed that they will continue doing what they have to do according to the security agreements with their allies in the region and developing their military capabilities.

Announcing that Biden will receive Argentine President Alberto Fernández at the White House tomorrow, Kirby noted that the leaders will discuss economic relations, climate change and technological issues, as well as support for Ukraine. (AA)
