Former Vice President Mike Pence will testify in an investigation into former US President Donald Trump’s attempt to undermine the 2020 presidential election. According to US media, a judge has decided to do so.
There has long been talk of an interrogation of Pence in the investigation into the bloody storming of the Capitol in Washington by Trump supporters on January 6, 2021. These are conversations between Pence and Trump before the assault, following a phone call from Trump addressed to his supporters to oppose the election result. According to Trump, there was fraud during the election, although to date there is no evidence of this.
Objection
According to the American news channel CNN, Pence does not have to answer questions about what he himself did that day. Pence can also appeal the judge’s decision. This was reported by CNN, which relies on multiple sources.
A few weeks ago, Pence said that Trump had “got it wrong” on January 6th. “That day his thoughtless words put my family and everyone on Capitol Hill in danger.” Speaking to ABC News, Pence said history will hold Trump accountable for his role in the assault.
