Montenegrin President: Serbia cannot afford to be one step ahead
Montenegrin President Djukanovic made a statement in the town of Bijelo Polje ahead of the second round of the presidential elections to be held on April 2 in Montenegro.
Expressing that his country will become a member of the European Union (EU) before Serbia, Djukanovic said: “Serbia cannot afford Montenegro to be one step ahead and higher wages in our country. This has not been the case throughout history, but it has been for the last 15-20 years.” saying.
“Serbia also cannot afford the situation of Montenegro becoming an EU member earlier,” Djukanovic said. he said.
Noting that his country has been going through serious crises for the past two years, Djukanovic said that “Serb nationalism” has failed in Montenegro.

In an interview with the Associated Press (AP) agency, Djukanovic criticized the role of the EU in the Western Balkans.
Drawing attention to the fact that the EU did not know what to do in the region in the last 10 years, Djukanovic said: “Russia has entered the area that the EU left empty. Russia has developed its network in the Balkans”. he used the phrase.
Djukanovic pointed out that if he is re-elected in the second round of the presidential elections on April 2, Montenegro will continue on its path towards the EU, otherwise it will be a country close to Serbia and Russia.
