The King of Spain evaluated the agenda: A terrible tragedy
King Felipe VI, referring to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, said there was “a terrible tragedy that affected everyone because of Russia’s unjust aggression.”
Prime Minister Sánchez also noted that the pandemic and Russia’s attack on Ukraine created “extraordinary uncertainty and instability.”
Sánchez recalled that Spain condemned the Russian aggression “in the strongest terms”, and said that “Putin violated with his actions the most basic principles of peace and coexistence of nations and also caused a crisis with global impact”.
Sánchez also stated that during the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the EU, Latin America and the Caribbean will always be a priority.
Stating that Spain will establish a regular and systematic dialogue between regions to jointly address global challenges, Sánchez stated that it aims to advance the EU’s trade agreements with the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), Chile and Mexico.
Emphasizing the importance of the Ibero-American Summit, Sánchez said: “The community has shown its commitment to food security, the environment and digital transformation from a human perspective.”
Prime Minister Sánchez also met with Argentine President Alberto Fernández and Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso as part of the summit.
