Convoy assassination attempt on Defense Minister in Yemen
According to information received from military sources in Yemen, the Houthis attacked the convoy of Defense Minister Muhsin ed-Dairi, which was traveling through the Al-Kedha region, west of Taiz, with a UAV loaded with bombs.
Yemeni Defense Minister Dairi, Chief of General Staff General SaÄŸir bin Aziz and Taiz Governor Nabil Åžemsan, who were in the convoy, were all claimed to have escaped unharmed.
In the same attack, one of the convoy guards was killed and two soldiers were wounded. Defense Minister Dairi’s vehicle was claimed to have been damaged in the attack. The al-Houthis have not yet ruled on the matter.
On the other hand, Yemen’s Information Minister, Muammar al-Iryani, in a post on his Twitter account, accused the Houthis of escalating military tension that caused the displacement of hundreds of families in the city of Marib.
Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have been in control of the capital Sana’a and some regions since September 2014. Saudi-led coalition forces have been supporting the Yemeni government against the Houthis since March 2015. (AUTO) BRITISH CLUB)
