Iran: We strongly condemn the repression of protests in France

Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Emir Abdullahiyan, in a message shared on his Twitter account, criticized the intervention of the French police in the demonstrations against the pension reform in France.

Abdullahiyan made the following statements in his message:
“We strongly condemn the repression of the peaceful demonstrations of the people in France. We call on the French government to respect human rights and refrain from using force against its people, who are peacefully pursuing their demands.”

Demonstrations that erupted on March 16, following the government’s decision to approve the bill raising the retirement age by 2 years, without a vote, continue in France. Violence is taking place in many parts of the country between the police and protesters, who have violently intervened in the demonstrations. Yesterday, 457 people were arrested in demonstrations across the country. (AA)
