Saudi Arabia and Syria prepare to restart diplomatic relations
The Saudi Arabia-based Al-Ibhariyya channel broke the news based on a Saudi Foreign Ministry official.
The official said that, in accordance with Saudi Arabia’s request to provide consular services between the two countries, talks are being held with officials from the Syrian Foreign Ministry.
Reuters previously reported that Syria and Saudi Arabia had agreed to reopen their embassies after more than a decade of disruption in diplomatic relations.
In the news, it was noted that the talks in question gained momentum after the agreement that contemplated the restoration of diplomatic relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran.
Riyadh and Tehran agreed to the resumption of diplomatic relations within two months through Chinese officials in Beijing on March 10, after a 7-year hiatus. (AA)
