Taliban urges international community for ‘dialogue’ and ‘lifting of sanctions’

Muttaki, who wrote an article on the Taliban administration’s foreign policy for the Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera, said the Taliban administration is ready for dialogue and that banking sanctions and restrictions deepen the humanitarian crisis in the country. .

Muttaki affirmed that with the arrival of the Taliban in the administration of Afghanistan on August 15, 2021, progress has been made in many areas, especially in the economy, corruption, security and the fight against drugs, but argued that these have been ignored by the international community

Noting that the territory of Afghanistan no longer represents a threat to any country, Muttaki called on the international community to establish a dialogue with them and lift the imposed sanctions.

“THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT IS PRESENTING ITS POSITIVE APPROACH”

Noting that the international community should establish political and economic relations with the Taliban administration, Muttaki said:

* We remind the US and others that sanctions and pressure do not resolve differences. We also understand that the globalizing nature of modern relations means that all state actors must learn to live in harmony and peace with one another.

* Such relationships must be built on immutable principles such as equality, mutual respect and cooperation through the pursuit of common interests. With this in mind, the current Afghan government once again demonstrates its positive approach to engaging with the world.

Noting that they recognized that there are some difficulties and shortcomings in solving the problems in Afghanistan, Muttaki said that it takes time, the necessary tools and cooperation to find a solution.

Noting that the main reason for the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan is the sanctions and banking restrictions imposed by the US, Muttaki said: “We believe in dialogue and exchange of views in an atmosphere free of political and economic pressures, whose objective solutions and eliminate misunderstandings”. he used the phrase.

After the Taliban came to power in the country, Western countries, especially the US, imposed economic and political sanctions on Afghanistan and Taliban officials. (AA)
