National Defense Minister Akar had a telephone conversation with Russian Defense Minister Shoigu

According to the ministry’s statement, issues related to Ukraine and grain shipments and northern Syria were discussed during the meeting.

At the meeting, Akar expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation in the extension of the grain initiative, which contributed greatly to the solution of the world food crisis, and stressed the importance of the uninterrupted continuation of grain shipments.

Minister Akar stressed that Turkey will continue to do its part to ensure peace and humanitarian aid in the region, as it has done so far.

Referring to northern Syria, Akar stated that Turkey’s only goal is to fight terrorism to ensure the security of its borders and citizens and prevent further human tragedies.

Noting that the talks that started under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Russian President Vladimir Putin will make significant contributions to peace and stability in the region and Syria, Akar noted that the continuation of it is of great importance.

The Minister of National Defense Akar also conveyed his appreciation for the support and solidarity of the Russian Federation after the earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş. (AA)
