Israeli airstrike in Syria
Syria announced that the Aleppo airport, in the north of the country, was the target of an Israeli airstrike.
According to news from the Syrian state news agency SANA, based on military sources, it was claimed that Israel carried out an airstrike around the airport in the east of Aleppo city center at 03:55 local time. The report stated that the airport was damaged.
Damascus stated that the airport was attacked by Israel on March 7 and was out of service. Military points belonging to foreign groups backed by Iran and Hezbollah, as well as the Syrian army, are known to be in Aleppo.
There was no explanation from the Israeli authorities about the attack.
Since the start of the war in 2011, Israel has been carrying out attacks against Iranian-backed groups and regime military points in Syria from time to time. (AA)
