Nestlé shares the nutritional value of the products: less than half turned out to be healthy

The British newspaper Financial Times announced that the Swiss-based retail brand Nestlé shared the nutritional value of its products with the public for the first time.

In the news, it emerged that less than half of the major foods and beverages in Nestle’s portfolio are “healthy.” According to the health star rating system, 54 percent of the brand’s products, excluding pet food, baby food, vitamins and other medical products, scored less than 3.5 stars.

In the Financial Times report, as a result of this evaluation, it is stated that some products are unhealthy, while the proportions of saturated fat, sugar, salt, as well as the proportions of fiber, fruits and vegetables are also examined. Nestlé, which is home to many brands, decided to share the nutritional value of its products with the public at shareholders’ request for “transparency”.

Nestlé said: “We set the standards in transparency. We are the first company in the industry to announce the nutritional value of its global products.” In the report published by the company, it was learned that 17 percent of sales came from products with 1.5 stars, 18 percent from products with 1.5 and 3.5 stars, and 30 percent from products with at least 1.5 stars. minus 3.5 stars. He specified that the remaining 35 percent of sales came from products of animal origin and other products that were not evaluated.
