Russian statement on Turkey-Syria-Iran meeting
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said talks are underway between his country and Turkey, Syria and Iran to set a date for a meeting at the level of foreign ministers.
Speaking to Reuters, a Turkish Foreign Ministry official said the meeting, which had been scheduled for last week, had been postponed.
In the story published by the state-run RIA news agency, Bogdanov was reported as saying: “We have not reached an agreement (on the date) yet, so nothing has been postponed.”
Bogdanov said: “We act from the idea that the sooner (the meeting) takes place, the better. But our Syrian, Turkish and Iranian partners have jobs and calendars. Although a date (for the meeting) has not been determined, we will continue with the coordination.”
