Erdogan received the Finnish leader with a ceremony: NATO Entry Agenda
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed Finnish President Sauli Niinistö, who is on an official visit to Turkey, with a ceremony at the Presidential Complex.
The troopers, who received the vehicle from the office Niinistö was in, on the street in front of the Presidential Complex, escorted the vehicle to the protocol gate. President Erdoğan welcomed Niinistö at the main entrance of the complex.
After Erdoğan and Niinistö took their places in the ceremony area, the national anthems of the two countries were played, accompanied by 21-gun salute. Finnish President Niinistö greeted the Ceremonial Troop of the Guard Regiment by saying “hello, soldier” in Turkish.
Flags and soldiers representing the 16 established Turkish states in history also participated in the ceremony.
After the welcoming ceremony that took place in the rain, Erdoğan and Niinistö posed for reporters in front of the Turkish and Finnish flags on the stairs.
Erdoğan and Niinistö, who had a face-to-face meeting, will then hold a joint press conference. President Erdoğan will also meet Finnish President Niinistö for a working dinner. (AA)
