Kremlin spokesman Dmitriy Peskov, regarding the possibility of a meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Syrian President Bashar Assad, said: “Preliminary meetings at the working level should be held before such a meeting. These contacts are being made. Work will continue in this direction, ”he said.

Peskov made statements to journalists on current affairs in the capital, Moscow.

Peskov said: “At the meeting, a decision was made that will lead to the signing of an important document in the field of economy and trade as soon as possible. In addition, the issue of improving relations between Turkey and Syria was also discussed at the meeting.

‘WE ARE NOT A THREAT TO FINLAND AND SWEDEN’

Assessing President Erdogan’s decision to support Finland’s accession to NATO, Peskov stressed that Russia does not pose a threat to Finland and Sweden.
Peskov said: “There is no problem on which we cannot agree with these countries. These countries have never wanted to be against Russia. Neither they represented a threat to us nor we to them. Therefore, we can only feel sadness about this issue, ”he said.

Noting that Turkey is a NATO country, Peskov said: “Turkey has its own line on this issue, they have their own problems within NATO and they are trying to solve them.”

Mentioning the downing of the US “MQ-9” type UAV in the Black Sea, Peskov noted that this issue was discussed with the US through defense and diplomatic channels. Peskov stated that the decision to remove the wreckage of the UAV from the sea lies with the Russian military. (AA)
