The decision that angered families in Indonesia… School hours were delayed until 05:30

School hours are a topic of debate in many countries around the world. The fact that boys are forced to get up at very masculine hours and go to school before dawn arouses harsh criticism from parents.

Finally, a new decision made in Indonesia drew attention. The authorities of East Nusa Tenggara, Kupang, stated that their goal is to strengthen discipline in 10 secondary schools and increased the school start time to 5:30 am. But parents say their children, who are used to working between 7 and 8 a.m., are tired when they get home.

One of the parents who reacted to the decision said: “This is very difficult, they have to leave the house when it is completely dark. “I can’t accept that… Your safety is not guaranteed when it’s dark and quiet,” he said.

Another father says that his daughter now has to get up at 4 am to go to school: “Every time she comes home, she gets tired and falls asleep right away because she is so sleepy.”

Marsel Robot, education specialist at Nusa Cendana University; He stated that the decision has nothing to do with efforts to improve the quality of education: “They will only sleep for a few hours and that is a serious risk to their health. This will create stress for the students.”
