North Korea launches long-range ballistic missile this time

South Korea reported that North Korea launched a long-range ballistic missile in the direction of the Sea of ​​Japan (East Sea). The South Korean General Staff announced that the long-range ballistic missile was launched from the Sunan region near the capital Pyongyang at 07:10 local time.

Japan’s Defense Ministry confirmed that the missile, which traveled 1,000 kilometers in the air, reached an altitude of 6,000 kilometers and fell outside the Japanese exclusive economic zone at 08:20 local time.

The missile was reported to have landed 200 kilometers west of Oshima-Oshima Island on the west coast of northern Hokkaido, and there was no damage to items underway in that area. Notably, the trial was held on the morning of a summit to be held in Tokyo by the leaders of the US’s allies in East Asia, South Korea and Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio said that after the missile test, Japan will continue to work more closely with its allies for regional peace and stability.

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol, in his statement after the National Security Council meeting, claimed that “the Pyongyang administration will pay the price for its reckless provocations.” (AA)
