US call to Ankara ahead of critical meeting
A critical meeting will take place in Washington today between Turkey and the United States. US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and Presidential Spokesperson İbrahim Kalın will meet at the meeting, where they will discuss prominent issues on Turkey-US relations.
Before the critical meeting, Sullivan responded yesterday to the questions of the journalists in the presidential plane. Referring to his meeting with presidential spokesman Kalın, Sullivan noted that they will discuss a number of issues related to Turkey-US relations, including Sweden’s and Finland’s NATO membership.
When asked about Finland’s and Sweden’s NATO membership, Sullivan said: “I think there is no reason why the two countries’ NATO membership should not be secured at this summer’s summit.”
Sullivan emphasized that in this context they will continue to be in contact with the Turkish authorities as well as with Finland and Sweden.
