Critical meeting with US and UK leaders
US President Joe Biden and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak discussed China’s problems with supporting Ukraine, as well as defense and economic cooperation.
Biden held a bilateral meeting with British Prime Minister Sunak in San Diego, California, under the AUKUS agreement, which includes Australia owning a nuclear submarine and sharing the technology used in nuclear submarines.
In a written statement from the White House, it was noted that Biden and Sunak underscored their commitment to enhancing regional security through the AUKUS partnership and close defense cooperation.
In the statement, the leaders were reported to have exchanged views on a variety of global issues, including challenges from China and the security of the Indo-Pacific, and discussed security, economic and military assistance to Ukraine, and economic sanctions against Moscow.
