22 thousand convicted of acts of Mahsa Emini benefited from amnesty

According to the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA), Ejei gave information about the prisoners who benefited from the amnesty decision signed by the country’s leader Ali Khamenei on February 5 at the meeting of the Higher Council of the Magistracy.

Ejei said: “So far, 82,000 people have been amnestied. 22 thousand of them participated in the rebellion (Mahsa Emini demonstrations)”. saying.

Noting that about 60,000 of the other prisoners were released, Ejei pointed out that with the latest amnesty decision, the sentences of 34,000 people were reduced.

MAHSA EMINI SHOWS

Mahsa Emini, 22, died on September 16, 2022 in Tehran, the capital of Iran, after being detained by Irshad patrols, known as the “morality police”, and taken to hospital after falling ill.

Demonstrations that began on September 17, 2022 in Sakkız, her hometown after Emini’s death, spread across the country and turned into anti-government protests.

Nearly 500 protesters were killed during the months-long events, and more than 100 security personnel lost their lives.

While Iran did not make an official statement on those detained during the demonstrations, independent sources claimed that thousands of protesters were detained. (AA)
