Saudi media announced that calligrapher Salih Al-Mansuf, who redesigned the Saudi Arabian flag with the word “Tawhid” and the sword symbol 50 years ago, passed away yesterday at the age of 86.

Following the funeral prayer held after evening prayers at the Al-Babtayn Mosque in the north of the capital Riyadh, Mensuf’s body was buried in the city’s Northern Cemetery.

Mensuf’s son Abdulmecid also shared on his Twitter account: “My father Salih al-Mansuf passed away on Friday.” (AA)
