Britain and France agree on irregular migration

Sunak held a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Franco-British Summit held in Paris.

Describing the summit as “a new beginning in relations,” Sunak said irregular migration, energy and security issues were discussed.

“IMPORTANT AGREEMENT”

Saying that “criminal organizations cannot decide who enters our countries,” Sunak claimed that after he became Prime Minister, they signed a major agreement with France to combat irregular migrants crossing the English Channel, saying:

“Today, we have taken this agreement to an unprecedented level to address our common problem. We announce that we will create a new detention center in the north of France. With a new command center, we are bringing our security forces together under one roof for the first time. It will further increase the capture rates of 500 new security guards (irregular migrants) to patrol the French coast, all supported by more drones and surveillance technology.”

Sunak also said the Irregular Migration Bill, announced by the UK government this week, would destroy the jobs of people smugglers and the system that brings irregular migrants to the English Channel.

Sunak affirmed that France and England could save Europe from dependence on Russian gas and pointed to the nuclear cooperation agreement signed with France.

Noting that energy from safer, more sustainable and protected sources will be provided with the cooperation of the two countries, Sunak said that European security is also threatened due to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Saying that the two countries decided to train Ukrainian naval soldiers, Sunak said, “We are helping Ukraine gain a significant advantage on the battlefield and win the war.” saying.

Sunak stated that they will cooperate with France in the development of more complex defense systems.

Responding to journalists’ questions at the end of the meeting, Sunak continued as follows:

50 CRIMINAL ORGANIZATIONS DOWNLOADED

Explaining that they are working in cooperation with France to prevent irregular migration, Sunak stated that 50 criminal organizations have been destroyed in this context this year alone, nearly 500 arrests have been made and thousands of migrant boats have been detained.

Pointing out that immigration is a global problem, Sunak noted that the results of the agreement will be seen with the steps that will be taken in the coming months.

Reminding that the main reason for rising inflation is energy prices, Sunak said that with cooperation in the energy field, industrialists and citizens of the two countries can get cheaper energy. (AA)
