Declaration of Russia as a threat to the West
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov assessed the agenda items on a program on Russian state television Pervy Channel.
Referring to the protests in Georgia against the pre-approval of the parliament’s “foreign agent” bill, Lavrov said that these demonstrations were similar to the Square events that took place in Ukraine’s capital Kiev in 2013-2014.
“THIS IS AN EXCUSE”
“Without a doubt, the law for the registration of non-governmental organizations, which receive financial support of 20 percent of their budget, is an excuse to start the process of replacing power by force.” he said.
Noting that similar laws have been adopted in the US, France, India and Israel before, Lavrov noted that the bill in Georgia is softer than the laws in those countries.
“THE LAW HAS BEEN RETURNED”
Recalling that Josep Borrell, High Representative of the European Union (EU) Foreign Relations and Security Policy, made a statement that the law in Georgia goes against European values, Lavrov drew attention to the withdrawal of this bill .
Comparing the protests in Georgia with the recent demonstrations in Moldova, Lavrov said: “The demonstrations in Tbilisi were far from peaceful. Here, cars were overturned, protesters used tear gas and smoke grenades. I don’t remember something like that happening in Chisinau. Even so, the attitude is completely different.” he used his statements.
“WE WILL THINK ABOUT HOW WE WILL RESPOND TO THE WEST”
Referring to the explosions that took place at the Nord Stream 1 and 2 natural gas pipelines last year, Lavrov stressed the need to conduct an investigation into “this terrorist attack”, saying: “If an objective, impartial and transparent investigation is blocked How will the West respond to this direct attack on our property? saying.
Minister Lavrov pointed out that Western countries impose sanctions on Russia, saying: “The West is developing a strategy to prevent all kinds of channels from being used to circumvent sanctions against Russia.” he said. (AA)
