Bloody attack on village in Democratic Republic of the Congo
36 people were killed in an armed attack by unidentified people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (KDC).
According to the national media report, an armed attack took place in the city of Beni, in North Kivu, in the east of the country. 36 civilians were killed and many injured in the attack carried out by unknown persons.
North Kivu Governor Carly Nzanzu Kasivita shared on her social media account that they assumed the attack was carried out by the Democratic Alliance Forces (ADF). Although she shared that the attacked town was completely burned down, security forces were sent to the region.
The ADF, which began operating in Uganda and the KDC in the late 1990s, was formed by former members of movements such as the Uganda National Liberation Army (NALU), the Uganda Muslim Liberation Army, and the Tablighi Jamaat. It is estimated that thousands of civilians have been killed and 100,000 people have been displaced since 2014 in ADF attacks. (AA)
