Translator refuses to translate for Netanyahu in Italy

Israeli translator Olga Dalia Padua, who was asked to translate for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his contacts with Italy, refused this request.

In a statement on his social media account, Padua said: “During Netanyahu’s visit to Italy, I was asked to act as a translator. After thinking for a long time, I decided to decline this request.”

Addressing Netanyahu’s press office, Padua said:

“Thank you for recommending me as an interpreter for Benjamin Netanyahu on March 9. Unfortunately I had to refuse. Not only do I disagree with Netanyahu’s political views, but I see his leadership as the most dangerous leadership for democracy in the State of Israel.”

‘My kids didn’t want it’

Padua claimed that his children would not forgive him if he agreed to act as Netanyahu’s translator and used the following statements:

“My children have always encouraged me to accept new job offers. However, they have taken a clear stance on this issue. They did not want me to cooperate with those who deny freedom by defending fascist principles, and I listened to their words.

There was no comment from Netanyahu on the matter.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to travel to Italy on Thursday as part of his official visit and spend the weekend in this country. As protests against controversial government judicial regulation in Israel continued, there were calls to close roads to prevent Netanyahu, who was preparing to visit Italy, from going to the airport.

In “The Times of Israel” news yesterday, it was claimed that Netanyahu may have to fly from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv by helicopter due to protests against the controversial court ruling.

Calls for “civil disobedience actions” are being made across the country, which will disrupt daily life, such as road closures and halting of train services on Thursday. (AA)
