Russian rocket attacks on Kharkiv and Odessa
05:30 | In the night between Wednesday and Thursday, Russia carried out rocket attacks on Odessa and Kharkiv, among others. Residential areas have also been hit, but no casualties have been reported so far.
The Odessa governor says on Telegram that an energy supplier has been hit, causing power outages in parts of Odessa. Kharkiv, the country’s second largest city, has been hit 15 times, according to the local governor. Utilities have also been targeted there.
Rocket attacks were also reported in Dnipro and other parts of Ukraine during the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
Zelensky is hoping for a “European success” in the Georgian protests
01:00 | Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky has tried to encourage Georgians during their pro-European protests in his daily speech. He says that “there isn’t a Ukrainian who doesn’t want Georgia to succeed”. Democratic success. European success.
Like Ukraine, Georgia hopes to become a member of the European Union. Which is now under pressure from a controversial new law. Consequently, organizations can be classified as “foreign agents” when they receive more than 20% of their funding from abroad. Opponents fear the law could be used to silence critics. They call it undemocratic and anti-European and fear it could hinder EU membership. Some EU leaders and EU Member States have already expressed their concern.
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in Tbilisi on Wednesday to protest the government’s plans. After Tuesday’s protests, 77 people were arrested.
