Controversial US MP took aim at Turkey
Rep. George Santos, who was investigated by the House Ethics Committee for allegations of sexual harassment in the United States and revealed to have lied about his background, has attacked Turkey.
Santos, a member of the House of Representatives, spoke in the “Morning Hour” session, where the deputies expressed their points of view for five minutes on free issues that they consider important. Santos questioned the US view of Turkey as an ally and Turkey’s NATO membership, mentioning Armenian claims and Swedish and Finnish NATO membership.
Defending the view that Turkey is involved in important policies regarding Azerbaijan, Syria, Russia, Iran and Armenia, Santos asserted that the “considerable number” of Armenians residing in the New York constituency had concerns. In this context, Santos said that he would support the bill, which was presented by the Armenian group in parliament, condemning Azerbaijan’s struggle in Nagorno-Karabakh.
Santos’ claims are not binding in the context of parliamentary functioning. (AA)
