France will give food vouchers to low-income people

Le Maire met with the executives of many food supply companies in Paris.

Stating that they will fix food prices in the markets until June at the latest to combat inflation and prevent rapid price increases, Le Maire said they will also give out “food vouchers” to low-income households.

Le Maire pointed out that the cost of this practice for the treasury would be hundreds of millions of euros.
Noting that they are working with food suppliers on a formula like keeping prices constant on an annual basis, Le Maire said prices will be kept as low as possible and suppliers can set prices independently of one another.

On the other hand, the products included in the fixed price will be recognized by the 3-color logo printed on them.

According to France’s National Institute of Statistics and Economic Research (INSEE), the inflation rate in food products reached 14.5 percent annually as of February. (AA)
