Frankfurt elections to the second round

Frankfurt elections to the second round

After Peter Feldmann, the “brother-in-law of the Turks”, from the Social Democratic Party, whose marriage to the Turkish Zübeyde cost him the presidency, was removed “by popular vote”, ballot boxes for more than 500 thousand frankfurts were installed.

THE TURKISH CANDIDATE RECEIVES FEW VOTES

Turnout in the elections exceeded 40 percent. The Christian Democratic Party made a breakthrough in the elections and Uwe Becker got around 34.5 percent of the vote.

Mike Josef, the SPD candidate, came in second and managed to get 24 percent of the vote. Dr., in whom the Greens had high hopes and had specially brought him from Berlin. Manuela Rottmann received 21.3 percent of the vote and Peter Wirth, a well-known Frankfurt citizen, gave the biggest surprise. Wirth entered the election as an independent, receiving 5.1 percent of the vote.

Yankı Pürsün of the Liberal Party, the only candidate of Turkish origin in the elections, stood at 2.8 percent. It is believed that the majority of voters of Turkish origin did not vote for Pürsün acting tactically so as not to lose the votes of the SPD.

SPD’s Mike Josef

Since no candidate could exceed 50 percent in the election, the poll will be held again on March 26. Frankfurters will elect either Uwe Becker of the CDU or Mike Josef of the SPD as president on March 26.
