A container ship bound for Portugal has run aground in the Suez Canal. Tugboats try to get the ship afloat. Two years ago, the channel was blocked for a week by the ship Ever Given, resulting in severe financial damage.
According to the Reuters news agency, it is the MSC Istanbul ship, en route from Malaysia to Portugal, sailing under the Liberian flag. Four tugboats are trying to bring the colossus afloat, according to a spokesman, the rest of the maritime traffic will not be affected.
