The FBI said that ‘Covid left the laboratory’… The answer came from China
China reacted to the statement by Christopher Wray, director of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), that they were based on the thesis that the Covid-19 virus “probably” accidentally leaked from a laboratory in China .
Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning told the regular press conference in Beijing that China opposes the political manipulation of investigating the origin of the virus. Recalling that the delegation of experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) conducted investigations in Wuhan, China, where the first cases of the Covid-19 epidemic were observed, spokesman Mao emphasized that in the report prepared by the delegation , the probability of the virus leaving the laboratory is low.
Noting that the investigation into the origin of the virus should be carried out by scientists, Mao said: “Assigning the task of investigating a scientific issue to intelligence organizations clearly shows that the issue has become politicized. “Given the stories that US intelligence agencies have fabricated in the past, their conclusions are hardly credible,” he said.
Mao called on the United States to respect science and facts, and to end origin studies at the initiative of intelligence agencies, adding that “the United States will not be able to smear China by repeating theories such as the laboratory leak, but it will harm his own reputation.”
WHO VISITED VUHAN
While China refused requests for investigations into the origin of the virus at the start of the Covid-19 outbreak, it allowed investigations to take place in Wuhan as international pressure mounted.
The WHO sent a delegation of international experts to the city of Wuhan in January 2021.
In the field studies that began on January 29, the delegation conducted investigations at the Wuhan Seafood Food Market, where the first cases were observed, as well as at the Laboratory of the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where allegations that the virus was released as a result. from an accident they were made.
During the review process, some members of the delegation complained that Chinese officials shared their own data summaries and analysis of initial cases at the start of the epidemic, but refused to provide raw information. Chinese authorities have denied claims that the virus had leaked from the laboratory and have put forward unproven counter-arguments, such as that Covid-19 originated in another country and was produced in a bioweapons laboratory in the US.
